□ My strategy as a creator
I've had a realization in my recent journal entry Journal Entry - December 8, 2024 at 8.22 pm:
I really want to spend more time being a creator. I want to get the whole formula / strategy flowing so that I have Posts, Articles, Newsletters, and I meet people to help them regularly. This is a strategy and it works so much better when I'm firing on all of these fronts.
My mix of various activities in my writing and distribution side hustle work actually form a strategy:
- Posts
- Ideal cadence: every other day, or even daily
- The most frequent updates I put out there. Keeps me in peoples' minds, and is a way to continually share value in smaller mediums (short form text, medium form text, short form image/video)
- When I post frequently enough, and as long as I have the other content output, I can also share updates that directly drive traffic:
- Share my articles when I publish them
- Share that I'm about to send a newsletter out
- Share a Now page update
- Articles
- Ideal cadence: every other week (dedicate a full day in writing flow)
- My longer format, higher value, less frequent content output. When I share these, they generally do well.
- Bring traffic to the website
- The more articles I have, interconnected, the more people can get "lost" in the content and stay on the website. Higher likelihood of subscribers
- Newsletters
- Ideal cadence: weekly
- Mostly automated regular newsletter. A way to be transparent, just share what I'm up to and thinking about, and automatically share what I'm learning
- This will be the content that I can most likely monetize (through newsletter suggestions)
- Now
- Ideal cadence: quarterly
- Can almost think of this as a quarterly newsletter that's an expanded "general update"
- Coding and Scripting
- Ideal cadence: every other week (dedicate a full day in coding flow)
- Building scripts helps me to automate and increase my capacity
- Coding my website is part of me creating a unique and engaging offering
- Helping Others
- This is part of the greater purpose I have
- It keeps me warm and in the details, learning
- I get direct ideas for content from the meetings
- Growing community
- Can create pipeline for investing
- Angel Investing
- Serves my purpose of helping others, an ability to also help financially and be more embedded
- Builds my reputation further by being at a level to invest and talk about my investments
- Can be very intentional and specific with my approach, and thereby grow my reputation / brand to attract more opportunities
- A way to potentially grow wealth, though can't be the reason
- It's a lot of fun!
Reflections on adjusting my Newsletter format to make it more efficient to write and send: Journal Entry - December 13, 2024 at 11.10 pm
The Streams Realization (February 2026)
The strategy above was right — posts every other day or daily, articles every other week, newsletters weekly. But the implicit bar for "posts" was too high, and original writing was silently gating all other content types (links, quotes, Buffer news).
Two breakthroughs (Journal Entry - February 21, 2026 at 8.40 pm):
-
My existing daily life already generates all the content I need. Reading, journaling, running Buffer, having meetings — these are all content sources. The missing piece is a lightweight bridge from each activity to a scheduled post.
-
Observations — a short-form post format (max 300 characters) distinguished by
post_type: [[Observations]]— are the missing piece that makes the "every other day or daily" cadence achievable. The bar: "I noticed something." No argument, no development, no examples needed. Auto-posted identically to all channels. Observations live inwebsite/posts/alongside all posts, not in a separate section.
Each content type is now an independent stream with its own source, bridge, queue, and cadence. No stream blocks another. Posts are classified on two orthogonal dimensions: post_type (format: observation vs medium-form) and content_type (topic: original writing, Buffer news, links, quotes). See My content streams for the full operating system.
