Stubs

Up: § My note taking system, Topic Notes

A stub is the earliest form of Topic Notes. A stub could be a note with nothing but a title. Or, a stub could have a title and a few bullet points to remind myself what I want to expand upon when I have time.

Stubs are powerful because once I have a note, I can link to it in context within other notes. Even a stub note with a title alone can grow in importance as I link to that topic from more notes. Over time these links will organically pull me back to that note to expand on it.

I use the ■ symbol at the start of the title of notes that are Stubs. This allows me to visually see notes which could value from me expanding upon them.

The name stub originates from programming: Method stub.
