Oscillating between details and strategy
I have found that one of the most effective ways for me to lead as a CEO is to oscillate between being in the details with team members, and stepping back to reflect and communicate strategy or operating principles.
I believe the optimal approach is to never spend too long in one of these extremes at the expense of the other.
Great strategy is informed and enhanced by the tangible details. And, a team operates more effectively if they have clarity on the bigger picture why and how their work connects to that vision and strategy.
